back from sunny Florida

Well, it was a whirlwind trip. I managed to see about 15 family members and most of my old co-workers (which is a LOT) in seven days time. It was fun but I'm glad I am back in Atlanta with Jared, Sweetpea, Peeny and the colder weather.
First things first: I got to meet my new nephew Gabriel. He is a cuddle bug! He's winking at you.

I got to hang with my dad watching cooking shows, talking about, making and eating food. Always fun!

I managed to still eat beans everyday while on vacation.
My dad made this white bean stew which was very tasty.

I also made this very colorful salad with my famous House Dressing.

I did make these naughty cookies for myself and the family:

But I justified a few cookies since I was eating some of my Grammie and Poppie's lovely pink grapefruit from their trees.

Glad you had fun on your vacation and got to meet the Gabriel. But I understand too, that it is always nice to get back home, especially if you had to leave the hubby and any critters you may have (I am assuming that Sweetpea and Peeny are critters).

Those cookies look wonderful. I wish I had one right about now.

WOW! A grapefruit tree?! In their yard?! It must be nice living in Florida or similar climates, I can't imagine having any sort of citrus tree in Mid-Missouri, though would love to if this was possible.

Welcome back!

Looks like it was a fun trip! Your new nephew is such a cutie :-) Gotta love the citrus in the south this time of year... our farmer's markets are still bursting with lemons, kumquats, and grapefruit.
Oh, and I'll take one of your naughty cookies anytime.

Aw, I remember when I was little and my grandparents lived in Florida... I used to have so much fun picking grapefruit off their trees and eating the juicy fruits. Now my grandma lives in cold, snowy Boston-- no more grapefruits in her yard! :o/

Sounds like you had a nice trip, and it's so cool you and your dad bond over cooking.

And that baby is ADORABLE!

Welcome back! It looks like a fun trip. Grapefruit is so good, but it's so expensive when it's not in season here.

I am jealous of getting to eat homegrown grapefruit!!! Yummmmm.

Also, that baby at the top is beautiful, and so are your "naughty cookies." Everyone needs a treat every now & then. (Or every day...) :)

Love your blog--and the name! :)

aw, your nephew is adorable! and your blog is awesome, too! I like the yin-yang of those perfect cookies versus that gorgeous Florida grapefruit. I've always wanted to try a real piece of citrus from the south, I can only imagine the difference! it looks sumptuous.
